“The best coffee shops are small, cozy and inviting.
But they’re also great for working out or for taking pictures.
If you’re a fan of the outdoors, it’s a great place to relax and have a great time.
I love that I can walk to the coffee shop on my way to work and get a drink and still get my coffee fix,” said Amy Dutcher, who has been a cafe owner since 2014.
Dutcher has been an avid outdoors person for most of her life.
Her father was a waterman, so she grew up playing outdoors and hiking.
“I was the only child in a small family of two,” Dutchers said.
She says she loves working out in the gym.
“It’s a lot of fun, and you get to meet other people who are very fit,” she said.
“If you don’t have the right clothes, or if you don) like to wear skinny jeans, you can really feel it.”
While there are many outdoor cafes in Portland, there are some that aren’t always as popular as others.
Dutchs favorite cafe, the Café Press, is in a residential neighborhood.
She says it’s not as crowded as a typical outdoor coffee shop, and it is much less crowded on a Sunday afternoon.
It is also a smaller, more intimate space than a typical cafe.
Duty Free, located in the North End, is a popular spot in the city.
The coffee shop serves espresso, cappuccinos, lattes and other types of coffee.
It has a large indoor patio.
“It’s very relaxing.
I can sit there with my friends and have some fun,” said Kelly Johnson, who opened her cafe in 2014.
“Everyone has a little bit of space, but you can’t get too close to the other people.”
In the Northeast Portland neighborhood of West End, where there are plenty of outdoor cafes, the owner of a local coffee shop is a coffee aficionado and enjoys meeting new people.
“There are a lot more cafes in this area,” said Rob Naughton.
“And that’s one of the things that makes it really great.”
Naughtons favorite is a cafe in the northwest part of the city, called the East End.
Naughts outdoor cafe, The Black Dog, has been open for almost 20 years.
“When I started The Black Dogs, it was a great coffee shop.
We had great people, we had great food,” said NaughTON.
The owner of The Black Pig, which opened in 2014, also enjoys meeting other coffee afiques in the area.
“There’s so many cafes that I have to work hard to find that I’m able to go out there and meet people.
I’m really fortunate to have a good coffee shop that I like,” said Michael Ehrhardt.
Ehrhardt is the owner and co-owner of Ehrhastas favorite cafe in Portland.
“Coffee is an amazing drink,” said Ehrhart.
“You can make it from the ground up, so it’s great for all of the different people.
The BlackDog is great because it’s in a neighborhood where I don’t really feel like I’m a coffee connoisseur.”
Ehrthas favorite spot is the East Side location of the Black Dog.
“They have a nice atmosphere, they have a small patio and they have some good coffee,” said Dutche.
“The coffee that we serve is very good.
We like the coffee from the region that we’re from,” said Sondra Dutcheon, who started The Coffee House in the early 2000s.
She said the location is a little off the beaten path, and the location makes it easy to find a good cup of coffee for a quick visit.DUTCH: How to find the best coffee in Portland | CaféPress | CaffePress | The Blackdog
