Delivering pizza to your doorstep is a relatively new trend in the US, but it has its own challenges.
One of the biggest is the fact that there are so many delivery drivers working in one area, and the drivers themselves are mostly inexperienced and have little experience.
“I don’t know of any drivers who’ve been doing this for 20 years,” says Anthony Balsamo, an assistant professor of labor economics at the University of California, Davis.
“It’s very expensive.
It’s not something that I can afford to do.”
And, while delivery drivers have a few tricks up their sleeves to help them, they also have to deal with many different drivers.
The problem is that many drivers are working from home and do not have the same level of training as the pizza delivery guys.
The drivers themselves, on the other hand, are often seasoned professionals.
So the pizza companies that are picking up pizzas from the delivery guys have to do a little bit of the lifting for them.
That means it can take a while for drivers to make their delivery.
And it’s not just pizza delivery companies that have to help.
Delivery drivers also work with grocery stores, fast food chains, and restaurants.
“We have to have the knowledge and the experience to be able to do that,” says Balsamoso.
“The delivery guys and I are very different from each other.
And the delivery companies are the ones that have a little more experience, but the drivers are the first ones who come in.
That’s why it’s hard to do well on the delivery side.”
So what’s the solution?
There are many different ways to get pizza delivered.
The best thing to do, says Betsamos, is to work with the delivery guy who works in the area.
“He can get the pizza and the delivery people can get some pizza,” says the professor.
“That’s probably the most efficient way to get it to your door.
But that’s a problem for a lot of places.”
One option is to ask the delivery company to put together a map of your neighborhood, to help you navigate the delivery lane.
Another is to have an experienced pizza delivery guy pick up the pizza from your door, then take it to the delivery truck.
Or, you could go out and get some deliveries yourself.
The pizza delivery company will have the maps and a list of pizza delivery locations in your area, which means you can go out with your friends and have pizza delivered to your home or office.
Betsamsom says it’s important to get some real pizza delivered first.
“There are a lot more people working in pizza delivery now than 20 years ago,” he says.
“If you’re in your kitchen, you have to make the pizza yourself.”
The pizza is often cooked in-house, so there’s less of a chance of your food getting spoiled.
Balsamso says that if you have a bad pizza, you can always buy fresh pizza in bulk and keep it in the fridge.
But there are other options.
For instance, you might order delivery at a restaurant and then take the delivery yourself.
That might work, but there’s a chance the pizza will be stale.
“You can’t just order it from the restaurant,” says Michael Sivak, an associate professor of economics at Georgetown University.
“They’ll get your pizza.
You’re going to be eating pizza anyway.”
And if you don’t have time to cook your own pizza, Sivaks says, you may want to look into other delivery options.
“Pizza delivery is not going to work if you’re not prepared for it,” he said.
Another option is using your own delivery truck to deliver your pizza, though it’s a little risky, especially for a first time pizza delivery customer.
“Because it’s done in-person, it’s very hard to be sure that it’s going to deliver the pizza,” Sivakes says.
It may take a day or two for your pizza to be delivered, and you might have to call the restaurant again to get a new delivery truck or to pay for a new driver.
And, there’s the possibility of getting some pizza delivery charges back, depending on how fast the truck is going.
Belsamsom agrees that it can be risky to take delivery yourself, especially if you are unfamiliar with delivery.
But, he says, if you do it right, you should be fine.
“Just get a little experience with it and learn to do it,” says Sivks.
“And then, you know, go out to the restaurant and do it again.”
For those new to delivery, it may seem like a daunting task, but Balsom says you don.
“What you learn from it is, if there’s any kind of mistake, just be more careful, be more mindful of your hands, and take extra care,” he advises.
